Film Review: My Body (short film) (2017)

REVIEW:

More short films, kiddies! Today we have MY BODY, written and directed by Daniel Möhle. This film was a winner for Best Cinematography at the Horror Feedback Film Festival in 2017.

Our story opens on a nameless man (played by Heiko Büter) alone in his sparse home. Well, not exactly alone…

We are entering the story in the aftermath of the man’s horrible deed. We don’t know exactly what he did, but we do know there’s a dead body on the floor in the next room. I think we can assume the worst.

There is no dialogue in the film. A brilliant score leads us through this very long night as the man tries to come to terms with his feelings about what happened. Everything is left for the viewer to sort out. There’s a good amount of symbolism and abstract interpretation in the visuals.

Mr. Möhle was the director of photography on the film, and I can see why the award for the cinematography was given.

There’s not a lot more I can tell you about the film other than to say you should watch it. The story is told through the visuals, and no words I use will explain it any further. It has to be seen to be understood.

So using my special short scale of one to five, five being awesome, I’m giving this film 3 stars.
