Richard Bates Brings Us Some ‘Suburban Gothic’

This trailer just kind of popped up from out of nowhere, but I like what i”m seeing. Director Richard Bates is responsible for a little flick titled ‘Excision’ this is in my opinion one of the most overlooked horror films of the last few years. His latest project ‘Suburban Gothic’ is priming itself for a big Fantasia Film Festival roll out later this month and as such – the aforementioned trailer has been released.

Pretty quirky and strange right? Loving it!

This one has got itself a cast too – Matthew Gray Gubler, Kat Dennings, Ray Wise, Barbara Niven, Sally Kirkland, Jeffrey Combs, John Waters and Muse Watson all play a hand. STYD sums the film up as follows:

“Gubler plays Raymond, a young man who has a prestigious MBA, but he can’t find work. He can channel the paranormal, but chatting with a cute girl mystifies him. Kicked out of his big city apartment, Raymond returns home to his overbearing mother, ex-jock father, and beer-bellied classmates. But when a vengeful ghost terrorizes the small town, the city-boy recruits Becca, a badass local bartender, to solve the mystery of the spirit threatening everyone’s lives.”

One to keep an eye on for sure. No release info yet but I’m sure this one is going to find distribution quick. I’ll update you as needed.
