SYNOPSIS:

Let’s Play Dead Girl is a story inspired by true events about three girls’ experience with Slenderman in early 2014.

REVIEW:

Yet more short films, kids! Today we have  LET’S PLAY DEAD GIRL, written/directed by Christian A. Morán

This short is based on the true events concerning the Slenderman killings. If you aren’t familiar, Slenderman is a monster that was created on the website creepypasta. Apparently some schoolgirls got the idea he was totally real and made a sacrifice of one of their friends to him in exchange for…I dunno, whatever monsters offer little girls these days.

I joke, but that actually happened in the real world. Pretty messed up stuff.

In this film, we meet Josephine and Juda (Yessenia Sabrina Rivas, Yeena Sung) who are the creators of a website that features stories, art, and discussion about a creature they call Alto. The site has thousands of followers, and the girls are a bit delusional.

They invite their biggest (local) fan Conseualo (Laura Guzman) for a birthday sleepover. Her mom isn’t so sure, but decides to allow it. You can guess what happens from there.

A few notes to make – the special make ups for the film are created by Ashley K. Thomas, the founder of Yellow Moth Makeup. Ms. Thomas has quite a portfolio and brings some really good stuff to this film. The young actors in this film have very little, if any, credits to their name. But they are all quite good.

The film was also made through crowdfunding, which of course always makes me happy.

There is a lot to like about this film. Not sure I can come up with anything bad to say about it.

Using my special short scale of one to five, five being awesome, I’m giving this film 4 likes.
