SYNOPSIS:

A group of friends pays a late-night visit to the city morgue to surprise Amy (Harris) on her birthday. But the surprise is on them when the one-eyed corpse of brutal psychopath Jacob Goodnight (Jacobs) unexpectedly rises from a cold sub-basement slab. Their wild party quickly turns into a terrifying slay-fest as the sadistic mass-murderer resumes his savage rampage complete with hooks, surgical knives and power saws.

REVIEW:

There are little horror movies that disturb me. Maybe it is because I grew up watching the genre from the tender age of 7. I have seen a film that that has been long overdue. One where it is directed by two beautiful women who happen to be twins. They are known as the Twisted Twins Jen and Sylvia Soska. Two amazing talented directors who directed Dead Hooker in a Trunk and American Mary. As a fan of the WWE, I have two favorite wrestlers, both are unique and have this awesome, terrifying aura that radiates off their physical beings whenever they step inside the ring.

They are Kane and The Undertaker, also known as the Brothers of Destruction. Back in 2006, WWE decided to come out with a slasher film called See No Evil, starring Kane who plays the murderous psychopath, Jacob Goodnight. A character who happens to love gouging out the eyes of his victims and placing them in a jar as apart of his collection.

Years later when I found out that the Soska Sisters were going to be directing See No Evil 2, I was way beyond excited for this sequel. While the first film kind of lacks on character development, the Soska Sisters change that in a beautiful and horrific way. They have this vision for what the film is going to look like and know what they are doing behind the scenes. Their eagerness and excitement shows in the way the movie flows and can have the audience want to care for the victims instead of waiting for them to die.

The kills are different and executed in a way that is both beautiful and cringe worthy at the same time. That is something that has been lacking in the horror genre for some time now. Fans of the slasher genre want unique kills, they want to react to how people are murdered and in See No Evil 2, the fans get that. They get to feel the pain the characters go through at the hands of Jacob Goodnight.

The twins manage to do something with the character that makes him unique and all the more real. The psychological trauma Jacob has gone through in the film, plays out when he pursues his prey.

What makes this film even better is the addition to the cast, Danielle Harris and Katherine Isabelle. The two of them play their roles tremendously.

The rest of the cast portray their characters with believability, they are not your stereotypical fodder for the killer. They have lives and are not teenagers that are careless. See No Evil 2 is considered to be the best horror sequel of 2014.

The film respects all the components of a Slasher movie, not to mention the killer who is a psychopath, the place is terrible, the weapon is not a fire arm or anything that is to shoot a bullet, the final girl gets to save the plate, and so on and so forth. Very nice movie and the opening scenes are outstanding knowing that sex has to play twist in the slasher movie.out of 10 I would say 7/11.
