Is Simon Pegg On Board For The X-FILES?

A few days ago there was some buzz online that perhaps fan favorite Simon Pegg could be pegged to take part in a rumored new chapter in the X-FILES mythos. Today Mr. Pegg himself has sounded off on the possibility.

”I was a big fan of ‘The X Files’ and I’ve become friends with Gillian since. I’ve always loved that show so it’s definitely something I’d consider. It’s a great story and it would be nice to see it continue [but] it has to be with David Duchovny and with Gillian.”

So, sounds like he’s down with the notion. Show helmer Chris Carter backed up that statement as follows:

“It’s really up to Twentieth Century Fox, whether they have the will to do it,” he states. “I think all of us are interested in putting the band back together. I have an idea for a third movie in my head. The colonization date has passed, and that is something we wouldn’t ignore. For the second movie, we only had the budget for a standalone story, but we want to go back to the mythology.”
