The-Thing-1982-Movie-3

SYNOPSIS: Scientists in the Antarctic are confronted by a shape-shifting alien that assumes the appearance of the people that it kills. REVIEW: “Now I’ll show you what I already know.” John Carpenter’s most indispensable film, The Thing, is based on John W. Campbell Jr.’s Who Goes There?, a novella dealing with paranoia and the fear of assimilation by an alien life form. Carpenter, a fan of the first cinematic incarnation of the story, The Thing … Continue reading

Top 25 Coolest Unique Horror Movie Characters

Pyramid-Head-banner

When I started this list, I was content to stay with the “top 10 coolest horror movie charaters”. In fact, I “thought” I might even have trouble coming up with the 10 that were unique enough (in their own right). Boy was I wrong! Once I started to consider how many different characters we have had (ranging from serial killers, fantasy conceptions, aliens, beasts, monsters and villains), it quickly transformed into …”damn there are too … Continue reading

Top 10 Goriest Horror Movie Death Scenes

zombie-flesh-eaters-1979--630-75[1]

The 13 Goriest Horror Movie Death Scenes Howdy. I think everyone can agree that violence is awesome. It is something we are taught to appreciate since day one. There is nothing more culturally sophisticated than a nice, well done vision of sadistic, relentless, bloody violence. I’ve noticed that in all walks of life horrific bloodbaths have entertained, inspired, consoled and comforted so many people. There really is no substitute for finding that special someone, curling … Continue reading

Trailer: Red Band Coolness for THE THING

HorrorNews.net-Thumbnail

It seems odd to me that they are calling this THE THING yet it takes place before John Carpenter’s version, don’t you think it should be called BEFORE THE THING or PRE-THING or something like that. Everything you see about this one makes it look like a remake, but it’s not. It appears that they are sticking with the same “morphing” look that Rob Bottin used in the original and it also looks like we … Continue reading

Film Review: The Thing (2011)

the-thing-2011-movie-large

SYNOPSIS:  At an Antarctica research site, the discovery of an alien craft leads to a confrontation between graduate student Kate Lloyd and scientist Dr. Sander Halvorson. REVIEW: Here it is! What is probably the most anticipated horror film of the fall, if not the year, has finally arrived. Director Matthijs van Heijningen Jr’s “Prequel” to John Carpenter’s remake of the 1951 Howard Hawks original (Whew! Try saying that three times quickly) hits multiplexes all over … Continue reading

A quick trip over to the FACEBOOK page for the upcoming Universal release of THE THING turned out to be quite productive. Seems they have uploaded some new photos and they actually show us all a little of what they are up too. Looks like they are going to hold pretty true to what Carpenter had going on in his retelling, actually looks kinda promising. Check em out and let me know what you think.

FIRST LOOK! Teaser poster for THE THING

thing88

Been quiet on this one for quite a while. Last thing we saw were a couple of pretty non exciting stills. Today brings our first look at a teaser poster for the prequel that I actually kind of dig. It’s simple, effective…pretty good. They are still talking an Oct. 14th release on this one and here’s what it’s all about: Antarctica: an extraordinary continent of awesome beauty. It is also home to an isolated outpost … Continue reading

New image from THE THING remake

615x330_ashton

Haven’t talked about THE THING redo that Universal has in the works. It’s still quite a ways off, Oct. 14th to be exact but today brought us a new image and sure, it shows us absolutely nothing but what the hell. It’s a slow news day and it is THE THING remake remake so it’s worth a few seconds of our time. Like I said, don’t show a thing but the good news that comes … Continue reading

Film Review: The Thing (1951)

Thing 1951 poster 1

SYNOPSIS: “Scientists at an Arctic research station discover a spacecraft buried in the ice. Upon closer examination, they discover the frozen pilot. All hell breaks loose when they take him back to their station and he is accidentally thawed out! Producer Howard Hawks’ adaptation of the John Campbell story of an arctic expedition that runs afoul of a blood sucking alien is often credited (or blamed) with launching the evil-monster-tries-to-destroy-humanity films that were so prevalent … Continue reading
