SYNOPSIS:
We know the story; we’ve seen the movies. You may think that it’s impossible to have a new approach to Frankenstein… Think again.
REVIEW:
I guess I never really thought much about it until now but I just realized that I’m not much of a “Frankenstein” fan. I’ve seen MANY of the films and I guess nothing really blew me away. Maybe it was because I was so young when… More

Book Review: Pop Goes Frankenstein – Author Sam Ita
With its riveting blend of horror and science fiction, Frankenstein has gripped the public’s imagination since its publication in 1818. Now Sam Ita, the genius of paper engineering and art, transforms Mary Shelley’s tragic masterpiece into an unforgettable, stunning, and accessible pop-up book.
For the third time, Ita—who created the magnificent Moby Dick and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea pop-ups—successfully captures the rich, dark drama of his source through… More
Exclusive Pictures Of The New Frankenstein Statue At Dark Delicacies By Mike Hill
This last Sunday, Februaury 13, 2011, I was honored to be able to unveil Mike Hill’s new Frankenstein’s monster statue at Dark Delicacies in Burbank, CA.
Hill said he wanted to encompass what he believed the monster would be feeling at the particular moment he chose to sculpt him by adding humanity into his expression which he feels is lacking in a lot of the previous recreations he has seen.

Man-Made Monsters: A field guide to Golems, Patchwork Soldiers, Homunculi, and other created creatures.
1. Were there real events that inspired to story of Frankenstein?
The best-known of all the Man-Made Monsters is probably Frankenstein, mainly due to Mary Shelley’s famous novel. This is a being created out of the remnants of the dead and brought to a semblance of life by electrical current. However, we have to… More
Creature profiles: Frankenstein

In the event of our birth, every single human being has the chance to meet our “creators” in a sense. Our parents at one point came together and decided (or maybe not) that we should be born. When we first open our eyes we look upon the face of our smiling parents, over adorned with joy looking at the beautiful being they made. However, none of us will ever get to meet our ultimate creator, and… More

A Little Bit of History Repeating?
If we look at today’s horror output from major Hollywood studios we must ask the question “Is Hollywood making the same mistakes it has before?”
A quick glance at movies currently in production shows a terribly high number of remakes and sequels, (monikered as ‘franchises’ by production companies) much to the dismay of many horror fans.
It seems like major studios have bombarded us with unoriginal ideas for many a year now. Yet, we know… More

Vintage Screams: Universal Monsters
In 1928, Carl Laemmle Senior made his son, Carl Laemmle Junior, head of Universal Pictures as a 21st birthday present. Woo hoo! Universal already had a reputation for nepotism – at one point, seventy of Carl Senior’s relatives were supposedly on the payroll. Many of them were nephews, resulting in Carl Senior being known around the studios as Uncle Carl. If you’re wondering how to pronounce the surname, Ogden Nash one rhymed, “Uncle Carl… More
