Extreme Cinema Film Reviews

These films have been isolated to their own section for their extreme cinematic content. The subject matter can vary from one presentation to the next. While HorrorNews.net does review alot of horror films, we feel there are "particular" films that are exceptional in the sense of being "too" hardcore for traditional consumers (shock value driven). These may contain extreme cases of gore, violence, rape, incest and/or torture...(to name a few). Many of these releases have emerged from the underground sector of film making (and in many cases stayed there as well).

In that same sense, we recognize a subculture genre interest that has developed for this particular sector of horror. Most extreme cinema titles are works of fiction and special fx. These are not recommended for young viewers, but may peak the curiosity of adult viewers who are looking for visual horror that takes things to harder levels. Many of the earlier "extreme cinema" titles emerged out of Asia, though that has changed in recent years past.

Extreme Cinema: Top 25 Most Disturbing Films of all time – part4

funnygames

Special mention: “Funny Games” (1997)

Take my advice and just stick with the 1997 German version. The accents will drive you a bit crazy but what made this film work so well was the directors way of lingering on shots. 2 boys torture a family and play games through the movie. What I found almost unbearable was the camera style that stays with certain shots …without cuts and lets … Continue reading

__________________THE LIST___________________

  1) “The Guinea Pig Collection” (1980′S) – 7 FILMS

This collection has long been the reigning champ for its purely visceral lack of humanity. Extreme torture, extreme gore….it really doesn’t get much more bare bones than this. The trouble either is that the films are not that good. They are simply pieces for extreme sake only. Viewers often questioned if they were real just for the cold nature of these and … Continue reading
