Total Recall Remake

Riding the remake wave Universal Pictures is remaking Total Recall. In the iconic role of Douglas Quaid that Arnold Schwarzenegger played we get Colin Farrell this time. While not an out right terrible casting decision it is an odd one. I am none too thrilled with the idea of a remake though as the original is remains fantastic to this day. There are so many great lines, scenes, and characters that I find it hard … Continue reading

Alien Prequel News

HorrorNews.net-Thumbnail

It seems the prequel that Ridley Scott wants to make is back and forth between being made and being put on the back burner. Well Ridley shed some light on the status of this project recently that should put an end to the tug of war rumors that have been coming out. “We always have movies moving all the time. It’s a bit like the stock exchange, actually—one script will evolve quicker than the others, … Continue reading

The Walking Dead Success

HorrorNews.net-Thumbnail

The Walking Dead is a breakout hit this season. It started with a huge punch with the 90 minute debut episode drawing in 5.3 million viewers. This is not only AMC’s biggest debut show (and they know hit shows with Breaking Bad and Mad Men) but also the largest demo premier for a cable show this year. It’s held in the second week and AMC is so thrilled with these results that it has renewed … Continue reading

It’s tentatively set for release on January 20, 2012 and the Swedish team of Mans Marlind and Bjorn Stein who are known for their English debut film of Shelter will direct. This was the missing piece to the puzzle as Kate Beckinsale signed on back in September to reprise her role in this film. Now that … Continue reading

John Dies At The End Update

HorrorNews.net-Thumbnail

Director Don Coscarelli made a big splash with his cult hit phenomenon Bubba Ho-Tep and is looking to make another iconic hit with John Dies At The End. The cast is shaping up to be very cool with Paul Giamatti and Clancy Brown on board but now we also have Hellboy’s Doug Jones and the Tall Man himself Angus Scrimm. These are some fun and interesting actors that should make this film worth watching. John … Continue reading

John Carpenter Still Hard at Work

DarkchyldeWallP1

While John Carpenter saw most of his success in the seventies and eighties he still has not quit. Personally I say good for him. He has seen so many of his classic films remade already such as Halloween, Assault on Preceinct 13, and The Fog. His latest work is titled Darkchylde based on the graphic novel by Randy Queen. Richard Taylor will be doing the special effects on this film as well who is known … Continue reading

Red State is a Wrap

red_state_teaser_poster

Kevin Smith finished filming AND editing Red State this week. The reason for this is that Kevin likes to edit his own films and in this case he was editing while shooting the film. He had it done so quickly that in a unprecedented move he screened the entire film for the Cast and Crew at the wrap party. Since it’s in the bag Kevin posted on his twitter feed “trick or treat?” which naturally … Continue reading

New(ish) Leatherface Film?

HorrorNews.net-Thumbnail

News has come out that Adam Marcus ( Jason Goes To Hell) and Debra Sullivan have written a screenplay that follows the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre before it moves forward 35 years. This means that it will pick up exactly where the original left off and not a day later. This will be done in 3D (shocking I know) and is tentatively being called Leatherface 3D. Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures will be teaming up to … Continue reading

Saw (3D) VII Box Office

HorrorNews.net-Thumbnail

Saw VII which is said to be the final Saw film (don’t believe it)  in the long running franchise opened this weekend to some good numbers. So far it appears to have earned $24.2 million which is good but still far below what it used to do. The only movies to open lower than this were the first Saw and Saw VI. This also means that as far as the matchup between Paranormal Activity 2 … Continue reading

Diora Baird Sets the Record Straight on Topless Scene

Diora Baird came out and said that she is not actually topless in Night of the Demons. It may have appeared that she was but it was actually prosthetic breasts in that scene and if you watch the clip below you can tell what she is talking about. Still looks to be a great gorefest movie and if you want to see what you can expect from this flick then watch the clip. Consider yourself … Continue reading

Paranormal Activity 2 is having a great weekend. It set a new record for opening midnight show grosses for an R rated film taking in $6.3 million from 1,800 venues. The previous record was held by Watchmen with $4.6 million so this was a blowout win. It didn’t stop there though. Paranormal Activity 2 has also brought in and estimated $20 million from 3,216 theaters on Friday and another 14 million on Saturday. Early predictions … Continue reading

Piranha Sequel

HorrorNews.net-Thumbnail

Dimension Films is rushing a Piranha Sequel titled Piranha 3 DD. Instead of Alexander Aja however this film will be directed by Feast director John Gulager and written by Saw 3D scribes Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan. I can’t say what this means for the Piranha film as John Gulager’s Feast film is more comedy then horror. Granted Piranha wasn’t completely serious with it’s d*ck burping fish but it was a gory frightening film still. … Continue reading

News on Hellraiser Remake

HorrorNews.net-Thumbnail

While no one is looking forward to the train wreck that is sure to be Hellraiser:Revelations Dimension has also begun work on the Hellraiser Remake. It just shows that even Dimension is not looking forward to Hellraiser:Revelations but it does bring into question if the remake will have Doug Bradley in it. Shock Til You Drop reports that Patrick Lussier and Todd Farmer are taking on the adaptation of Clive Barkers The Hellbound Heart. These … Continue reading

Limptooth

As the title suggests there is a movie coming out that explores the problems that vampires suffer from. Sometimes Vampires can’t get their tooth to function. How embarrassing! The trailer sold me on this film though as it looks like a great horror/comedy which has to be the first time I have ever said that. This film is directed by Maclain Nelson and Matt Jespersen, stars Adam Johnson, Julie Gonzalo, Gary Cole (Office Space) and … Continue reading

Drive Angry Trailer

The trailer for Drive Angry hit the net this week. This is right after the one sheet with the synopsis was released so we are all in luck. Truth be told I am not a big Nicholas Cage fan but this movie looks to be one of this better ones. It looks like a ride through hell with muscle cars. Plus who doesn’t love a story of redemption involving what would appear to be an … Continue reading

Natalie Portman NOT starring in Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

pride-and-prejudice-and-zombies

Problems are surrounding the film adaptation for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. David O. Russell was set to direct but has since vacated that seat due to scheduling conflicts. He is moving on to work on a movie titled Old St. Louis. That has slowed down the movie enough that Natalie Portman has also moved on to other projects because of her busy schedule but she will continue to produce this movie. So begins the … Continue reading

28 Months Later Rumors

HorrorNews.net-Thumbnail

There are still talks about another sequel to the ever popular 28 days later. In following the theme of days, then weeks, the next film is naturally being called 28 months later. While this is exciting it’s also disappointing that in the three years since 28 weeks later was released this film is still in the talking stages. However the good news is that Danny Boyle himself said he would like to return to direct … Continue reading

Slash creates Slasher Films company

HorrorNews.net-Thumbnail

If I asked you what GNR and horror films had in common what would you say? Horrifying lead characters? Okay fine but now they also have something else outside of the train wreck that is Axl Rose. Former Lead Guitarist for GNS and Velvet Revolver has started up a production company called Slasher Films. In a follow up to The Angry Princess’s write up on the new production company http://horrornews.net/16302/guns-n-roses-slash-get-movie-deal-nothing-to-fear-details/ we found this statement from … Continue reading

Paranormal Activity 2 Trailer

We are very close to the release of Paranormal Activity 2 and Paramount wants to get everyone excited about it. Much like the original we have a trailer that looks to deliver on the hype. Bear in mind however that if the first film was not your cup of tea then this one probably won’t either. If your like me though and found Paranormal Activity to be fun, exciting, and creepy then this sequel is … Continue reading
