Niagara Region’s First Zombie Mud Run Set to Debut in September

The zombie mud run will feature more than 15 obstacles ranging from medium to difficult, with the run itself a grueling challenge through hills, open fields, and mud crawls. Four foot jumping walls, wooden ladders, and a 40 foot water slide are just some of the challenges awaiting participants in the event. All participants will begin with three “lifelines” (flags that are attached at the hip), with the goal being to avoid the zombies who are looking to take them.

“We wanted to create a really fun, exciting mud run experience that is not already available here in the Niagara Region,” said Phil Van Kleef, owner of Zombie Mud Run Canada. “We’ve been working on the obstacle course for over a year, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the layout and challenge it offers to zombie mud runners. It’s a great course for all levels of fitness,” he added.

The course is located on the Campark Resorts Campground, covering more than five kilometres of obstacles, zombies, and of course, mud. While running the course, participants are also pursued by “zombies” (a group of staff on hand dressed in Hollywood quality makeup and costumes). The event will be the first of its’ kind in the Niagara Region in support of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada.
“This is something new in the region, and even if you’re not a seasoned marathon runner, it’s a great excuse to enjoy the outdoors,” added Van Kleef.

Registration for the marathon is now open. Tickets and more information are available by visiting http://www.zombiemudruncanada.com/
The Zombie Mud Run takes place on Saturday, September 13th.
