FEARNET Bought By Comcast – Content To Be Split Between CHILLER and SYFY

Fearnet__140414172100Some rather sad news today – at least for those of us that like variety in our horror entertainment. The cable giant COMCAST has bought out their FEARNET partners – SONY and LIONSGATE and will be dismantling the horror channel and splitting the catalog up between the two other genre channels they already run – CHILLER and SYFY Channel.

The channel will cease to exist once the transfer of programming is complete which will take place over a “yet to be determined” time frame. DEADLINE is also reporting that all but 10 staff members have been let go, effective today.

A quick check of the FEARNET website finds it still up and running as of this hour.

I’m sure the coming days will bring further information on what will happen with the original programming and web site content that many fans have come to enjoy.

RIP FEARNET – You shall be missed!
