EVIL DEAD 2 Remake Confusion Abounds – Is Alvarez In Or Is He Out?

Purposely stayed away from this one yesterday as it all seemed a little to vague to me but let me bring you up to speed on the last 24 hours. Early yesterday the majority of the online horror news sites all reported the same story that Fede Alvarez and his co-writer Rodo Sayagues had walked away from the sequel to their hit remake of Sam Raimi’s THE EVIL DEAD. This morning Alvarez himself has taken to Twitter to dispel that statement tweeting simply “Don’t believe everything you read.”

The confusion appears to stem from the fore mentioned Rodo Sayagues who told Gorosito TV that he and Alvarez has left the project but Bloody-Disgusting contacted Alvarez directly who states that “things just got lost in translation” and “Rodo meant we’re not actually making ‘Evil Dead 2′ right now because the priority is Sam’s ‘Army of Darkness 2.’ But the plan of making a sequel to our ‘Evil Dead’ is very much alive.”

So, although there has been no official press announcement at the time of this writing it would appear that EVIL DEAD 2 is still a go and that Alvarez is still involved. Hope that clears things up for ya!
