Alternative Cinema, home to media marketing and distribution studios POPcinema and Camp Motion Pictures, will be the official distributor sponsor of Buffalo Dreams Fantastic Film Festival. A leading distributor of independent genre films, AC will offer a worldwide distribution agreement to the First Place winner in the festival’s Feature Film competition; the agreement is non-binding upon entrants. Buffalo Dreams will be the only film festival in the Buffalo-Niagara region with a distributor sponsor offering such a distribution deal.
“What a film festival offers to filmmakers is an audience,” says festival co-director Gregory Lamberson, “and this sponsorship from POP enables us to broaden that audience for the winning feature filmmaker. I’ve had a relationship with the company dating back to 1997, and the people there are the best in the business at marketing specialized genre films. The winning filmmaker isn’t obligated to accept the distribution offer, but it’s a wonderful opportunity.”
Paige Kay Davis, Director of Business Development at POP, attended Buffalo Screams Horror Film Festival – the forerunner of Buffalo Dreams Fantastic Film Festival – twice to speak publicly on contemporary film distribution for indie films.
“Our collaboration with the Buffalo Dreams Fantastic Film Festival furthers our mutual mission to support and bring national attention to exceptional genre films and the people who make them,” says Davis. “Already a showcase for emerging and established independent filmmakers, this year’s expanded and varied genre programming should cement its status as a key resource for lovers and creators of fantastic cinema. We are delighted to be on board this year as the official distributor sponsors.”
