With its ninjas, megalomaniacs and super-heroic deeds, G.I. Joe: Retaliation rests on the fringes of the show’s Monsters from the Movies theme, but Doc and Thomas were eager to give the film a shot. Dwayne The Rock Johnson has already saved two franchises; it is likely he was set to save a third with this sequel to the dismal G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra. Surprise, surprise, director Jon M. Chu manages to break the mold and elevate the series to a watchable, entertaining, but brain-dead thrill-fest.

Straying not too far from G.I. Joe is James Mangold’s The Wolverine with Hugh Jackman returning as the mutant, Logan. Doc and Thomas have high hopes this film will rise above its predecessor as well. In this preview, the Wolverine goes to Japan to face off ninjas (should be The Hand), Viper and The Silver Samurai. Superhero action from Twentieth Century Fox as they up their game to compete with the juggernaut that is Marvel Studios holding onto their licenses for the X-Men franchise.

The Walking Dead has become a TV heavy weight with AMC televising the finale for season three on March 31st. Did the show live up to the high praises Doc and Thomas have been singing for earlier episodes this past spring, such as “Clear?” How many cast members died? How many survived? Did Rick get to off the Governor or what? Did Andrea get what was coming to her? Ha! The show remains one of the best horror-theme events on TV.
