The Aliens Could Be Returning In ID4EVER

With directors Roland Emmerich’s latest “let’s blow up a bunch of places we all recognize” thriller WHITE HOUSE DOWN getting ready to hit theaters, Mr. Emmerich is out and about and talking about things and one topic that seems to keep coming up is his long rumored sequel to the massively successful Independence Day which actually came out 16 years ago! Can’t believe it’s been that long…

ID4 is one of those guilty pleasure films for me. If I’m channel surfing and happen upon it, I’ve got to stop and watch. I know there are more of us out there so this news is for you/us. This sequel has been murmured about in back rooms for years now but this time the whispering seems a little louder. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly Emmerich had this to say:

“The humans knew that one day the aliens would come back and they know that the only way you can really travel in space is through wormholes. So for the aliens, it could take two or three weeks, but for us that’s 20 or 25 years. It’s still some of the same characters, but also new younger characters; it’s a little bit like the sons take over.”

“It’s a changed world. It’s like parallel history. [Humans] have harnessed all this alien technology. We don’t know how to duplicate it because it’s organically-grown technology, but we know how to take an antigravity device and put it in a human airplane.”

Keep in mind, none of this is confirmation on anything but some of the times when a project of this scope starts getting discussed at press events promoting another film, something could be up.

The title ID4EVER has been tossed around for quite some time, it’s so wrong, it’s perfect. Lets do this damn thing!!
