Video Madness: Marvel Zombies

Ok class, today I have a homespun treat. It’s a submission I just received from an FX artist friend of mine and certified class clown, Dave Brooke. It’s a short, fan made trailer for “Marvel Zombies” created by his cohorts Scotty Fields and Jim Ojala.

I believe I’ve met Scotty before, however it was at a costume party where he was donning the Hulk suit from this short. So I couldn’t pick him out of a line up, but I gotta tell ya, that thing was pretty impressive in person – seriously massive and imposing. This video really doesn’t do the suit they made justice, nor gives it the screen time it deserved. But, it was their suit, and their short, so who the f*ck is The Professor to say? Just complimenting your work guys. No complaints here. I just wish we all got to see more of it.

This short is pretty cool though and the FX are strong for how quickly I was to understand they were created. If you’re like me though, you’ll wish it were longer – about an hour and half longer. Hopefully, this fun and certainly awesome looking series Marvel embarked on in 2005 (and has continued in various forms since – probably my favorite being the Marvel/Dynamite crossover “Marvel Zombies vs. Army of Darkness”) gets some consideration for a feature length film. However, I seriously doubt anyone is lighting a fire under the ass to get this made. Particularly in lieu of the almost nauseating amount of other comic book properties getting the celluloid treatment in the coming years.

I hope you enjoy it.
