(Cory J. Udler, writer/director of Incest Death Squad I and II, announces that B movie queen, Debbie Rochon, has officially signed on to play The Virgin Mary in his upcoming film, Mediatrix.Udler had Rochon in mind for the role from the beginning. He said, “I almost didn’t even want to do the movie if I couldn’t have Debbie as the Virgin Mary. Luckily, she’s totally accessible and totally into doing the film. It’s an honor and a privilege to have her as a part of this production.”
The film is loosely based on the story of Mary Ann Van Hood and the “Necedah Shrine” in Necedah, Wisconsin where there were reported visits from the Virgin Mary in the 50’s and 60’s. Udler promises that it will only be a loosely based interpretation of this, giving him plenty of room to be relentless, bloody, and fully exploitative; fitting with his typical style.
“That story is the source material. There are still people living in Necedah who follow the words of Mary Van Hook, so I couldn’t do a full on story about her, so the names and locations and characters have been changed and the exploitation has been amped up big time. But that story was the source material, but my co-writer and I went way overboard with our story”, Udler said.
Mediatrix is co-written by Paula Waterman, who also stars in the film. Other cast members include Deneen Melody, Kaylee Williams, and Incest Death Squad’s own, Tom Lodewyck, Greg Johnson, Melissa Murphy, and Matt Ukena.
Mediatrix is set to begin filming in the beginning of October and will be wrapped within 7 days, far quicker than Udler has ever tried to shoot a film before. Udler notes, ““With Incest 1 and 2, I shot bits over the course of 3 or 4 months. This is going to be fast, furious and we’re going to do it in 7 days.” The film should be released by Christmas 2010. Funding is in place for the film, but donations are currently being accepted at www.indiegogo.com/mediatrix. Perks are set up for different donation amounts, including getting to meet Debbie and the rest of the cast and crew.
