Iconic Series Awarded ‘Best DVD Television Release’ By Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films

‘Image Entertainment proudly announces that the Twilight Zone Seasons 1 & 2 Blu-ray won the Saturn Award for “Best DVD Television Release at tonight’s 37th Annual Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films ceremony. Marc Scott Zicree, author, THE TWILIGHT ZONE COMPANION and co-producer of THE TWILIGHT ZONE BLU-RAY sets, and Ray Gagnon, Executive Vice President, Sales, Image Entertainment, accepted the award presented in Burbank, CA.

“This revered series has captivated generation after generation of fans for good reason, Bill Bromiley, Chief Acquisition Officer, Image Entertainment, responded. “We at Image are extremely proud of our association with Rod Serling’s enduring legacy, and honored to have this collection recognized by our esteemed peers.

“Over twenty years ago, I attended the Saturn Awards with Carol Serling, Rod’s widow — and now to win this marvelous prize is a great thrill, said Zicree. “I’m very honored and grateful. But more than that I recognize that the award is due to Rod Serling, to the enduring depth and soul and truth of his work — and to those who collaborated with him in creating this phenomenal series. Twilight Zone Seasons 1 & 2 Blu-ray took the top honor among a celestial group of nominees including “Lost The Complete Sixth and Final Season, “The Six Million Dollar Man: The Complete Collection, “Space 1999: The Complete Season One Blu-ray, “Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea Season 4, Volume 2 and another Image release, “Thriller: The Complete Series. The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films was founded in 1972 by Dr. Donald A. Reed to recognize and honor excellence among filmmakers in the science fiction, fantasy, horror and action/adventure/thriller film genres.

In 1959, a ground-breaking television series premiered – investigating the futuristic, the telepathic, the cryptic, and the metaphysical: The Twilight Zone. Every week, Rod Serling’s masterwork of “fear noir took viewers from the safety of their living rooms on amazing journeys of fantasy and imagination. For Twilight Zone Seasons 1 & 2 Blu-ray, all new 1080p high-definition transfers were created from the original camera negatives, as well as uncompressed PCM audio, remastered from the original magnetic soundtracks. In addition, the sets include new and exclusive bonus features not available anywhere else, including the rarely seen, never-before-released unofficial pilot “The Time Element, written by Rod Serling and hosted by Desi Arnaz – the episode that started a cultural phenomenon – presented in glorious high definition.
