Dead and Punked

It’s me again,  I’m hunched over the keyboard turning pale and convulsing as I suffocate on my own blood.   My fingers are barely able to hit the keys to type these poisonous theories.  “Joyhorror” is the name that I hear from the underbelly of horror’s anti-social living dead community.  I answer with a resounding thud as my lifeless head bounces off the desk.   I’m listening to your death rattle.   Unexplained Confidential has a crossover audience of both the living and the undead.   I am always more than happy to shake a dead cold hand that is freshly uncovered from the dirt.   Today is one of those lucky days because I’m revealing Deceased Darling to the Horrornews.net audience.    Her corpse is stinking hot and toxic as hell.   I found her playing in her grave with a few dead kittens.   I helped her out of the cemetery so she could go create anarchy and chaos among the living.   Get ready to be terror-ized!

This weekend is Days of the Dead convention and Horrornews.net recently did a giveaway for some free weekend passes to the event.   The contest winners are Kevin Herrington, Jordan Bercovitz, James Hitchison, James Alex Nash, Mike Lovitt, Christina Trivigno, and Susan Eberhardt.  I want to congratulate them and hope they have a wonderful time at the DOTD Con!

The Afterlife Population

I’m going to ask a question that obviously has no answer, but there seems to be a lot of paranormal activity of earth.    I walk around every single day and I see the tangible,  things that I recognize and things that I can walk up to and touch.   I often wonder if the souls and spirits that roam this earth outnumber the living.   I can’t see ghosts, so I have no idea how many are really out there.    There are many religious beliefs including my own that believe once the body dies the soul goes to heaven.   Also,  depending on your belief system,  there are many souls that are pulled down into hell once the body dies.   If all these souls are going to heaven and hell than why are there so many souls apparently left behind here on earth to co-exist with the living?   It’s obvious to me now that I’m writing this, that I have more than one unanswered earth.    Are there more of the living on our planet or our there more of the afterlife on our planet?    I mean, paranormal research has shown us that there are ghosts still here that are hundreds of years deceased.   Are there thousands, millions, or billions of ghosts here with us?    I think it’s somewhat of an overwhelming question.  If you think about the community that you live in and how you co habitat with neighbors,  I would think the same social structure exists in the afterlife.   How do ghosts get along with each other?   We see how overcrowded our planet has become with the living,  I can only imagine the paranormal population problem.   What about overlapping generations of the deceased?   If there are ghosts on this planet who have been here for thousands of years,  then you have to think about the generations and generations of dead overlapping.   How does a ghost from the year 1772 get along with a ghost from the year 1972?   This time span that we are talking about could even be great than that.   I know this all sounds ridiculous but if we are going to assume that ghosts are real, then we have got to assume that these questions are legitimate.

I’m going to throw out another questionable question.   The year 2012 is right around the corner and it’s the hot topic that it could be the end of times,  the apocalypse.   I believe that man can change his destiny but let’s just say that 2012 does in fact bring the end of our world and all human life is terminated.   Where does that put the afterlife?    Does earth become a planet of ghosts?    What if the planet earth is somehow destroyed completely.    If there is no planet,  where do you think all of the souls and spirits of men who have been grounded on earth will go?

Get Ready for the Horrornews Piledriver!

I’ve been heading into a different direction recently.   I’m a long time fan of the sport of professional wrestling.   It has been my pleasure recently to interview some of wrestling’s great superstars from the 1980’s.    In the last six months,  I have done interviews with Jesse “The Body” Ventura,  “The Walking Riot” Missy Hyatt, and leader of the Four Horsemen, J.J. Dillon!    I also had the honor of interviewing Sir Oliver Humperdink just a few months before he passed away.   I’m not going to get into the situation with Austin Idol right now.   Anyway,  my point is that the fans of wrestling and horror are very similar and in some cases the same.   These two separate genres have some of the most loyal and dedicated fans of any form of entertainment.   If you just look at conventions,  every year tons of Cons pop up worldwide dedicated specifically to wrestling or horror.   These two genres aren’t as popular and don’t make as much money as other styles of sports and entertainment.  In some ways, wrestling and horror are both treated like bastard children.   Professional Wrestling is considered a joke by a large segment of society.  It definitely doesn’t get the respect from real sports programs that cover Football, Baseball, and Hockey.   Horror struggles with the same type of thing in Hollywood.   Those in power push comedies and super hero movies to the sky while the horror genre is lucky to even get a movie on the big screen, especially during the summer months.   I’m a horror fan and I’m a wrestling fan,  and in the weeks and months to come I’ll be starting to cover more professional wrestling.   I’ll cover wrestling related topics that I think are appropriate for our website.   It’s just another way for Horrornews.net to branch out.   I’m looking at doing some more interviews and possibly some live event coverage.   I’ve already talked to one wrestling promotion ( which will remain nameless for now ) and they are very willing to have Horrornews.net cover their events.

Breaking the Fourth Wall

Vince McMahan got Punk’ed?   If there was ever a polar opposite to Charlie Sheen’s internet assault fueled by drugs and prostitution, it’s CM Punk’s straight edge assault on the WWE and Vince McMahan fueled by backstage politics.   Is it fare to say that Vince McMahan got punk’ed or is it all just an elaborate worked shoot?  I’ve been following professional wrestling all of my life and I think what we are witnessing is a brilliantly mixed reality and storyline c**ktail.   If you don’t know what on talking about, on the June 27th edition of Monday Night Raw,  CM Punk ended the live telecast by “breaking the fourth wall” and directing some very personal and hurtful comments at the owner of World Wrestling Enterprises, Vince McMahan.

I think it’s safe to say that wrestling hasn’t been this real since the Shawn Michaels / Bret Hart situation and it just so happens that the WWE is working on a Michaels/Hart DVD with heavy focus on the Montreal Screwjob.   It is a coincidence?  I don’t know but you can’t help to connect the facts,  Hart got screwed in his home town of Montreal back in 1997 and on July 17th 2011 Punk wrestles for the title in his home town of Chicago, IL.    The difference is Bret Hart walked into Montreal as champion with McMahan needing to get the belt off of him,  and now Punk walks into Chicago as challenger threatening to leave the WWE with the belt.   It’s different but it’s the same.

It’s the first time a long time that people are talking about pro wrestling instead of mix martial arts.   Fans have been waiting for the creative pendulum to swing in this direction for years.  It’s been more than a decade since Steve Austin and The Rock were generating that water cooler talk at the office.   Fans (marks and smarks alike) have been begging for a savior.   The critics seems to all agree that this “single interview” might have enough weight to turn the tide.    The feeling that I’m getting is that CM Punk is on the verge of being the new poster boy for the WWE.     I’m getting another feeling that my first feeling will never ever happen.   It all comes down to how much of that interview was work and how much of that interview is shoot and who was in on it.   What makes it so exciting right now is the fact that you can have 100 theories of what’s going to happen but nobody really knows.   The end result is anyone’s guess.

Spoiler: The July 4th RAW is pre-taped and John Cena appearently confronts Vince McMahan about the CM Punk incident.   Cena tells McMahan that he still wants Punk, even though he’s suspended.  McMahan admits that he suspended Punk because he doesn’t want Punk to leave with the belt if he beats Cena.  Cena convinced McMahan to let Punk wrestle on July 17th but McMahan adds the stipulation that if Cena doesn’t win, he fired.

My prediction:  I think it can go a few different directions, but I’m putting down my official prediction for John Cena vs CM Punk.  I think it’s possible that we see Vince McMahan at ringside towards the end of th match, just to add to the drama.    I’m going to say the impossible happens, and CM Punk becomes the WWE champion.    Vince McMahon keeps his promise and fires John Cena.  At this point, everything is set in motion for the WWE to really break new ground.   I think John Cena does a final interview the next night on RAW and tells McMahon and the fans that he’s going to follow CM Punk to whereever he goes and he’s going to beat Punk for the title and bring it back to the WWE.   Could you imagine a WWE Title match at a Ring of Honor show?   I know it’s a little far fetched but if it goes down like I said,  the sky is the limit.

Tapestry Entertainment LLC is currently casting for a women’s prison movie to be filmed in South Jersey this summer.   I’m currently in talks to cover the making of this movie and hopefully provide some behind the scenes details as it’s being filmed.

WOMEN’S PLAYGROUND is about women in prison and the horrific circumstances they must endure to survive. It is graphic and raw. It is not a documentary, but a narrative. It has a dynamic story line with a twist at the end, no one will suspect. We are looking for a crew that can make this film so hard hitting, that no young woman will want to break the law and take a chance to end up in a facility like this. A sort of scared straight, female OZ, type film.”

Laster F’N’ Later,

Mike Joy aka Joyhorror
