‘BLADE: THE ANIME’ Takes on Vampires in Japan

Blade is back! Once again the human/vampire hybrid is battling a vampire army hell bent on taking over the world.

The new anime from Madhouse (SUPERNATURAL: THE ANIMATION) will be based on the popular Blade franchise and is a part of a partnership with Marvel Comics that will bring four other popular superhero comics to Japan in anime form. Voiced by Akio Ohtsuka, Blade journeys to Japan in search of the villainous vampires and meets up with a young woman named Makoto, voiced by Maaya Sakamoto, who is trained in the art of vampire hunting.

Mitsuyuki Masuhara (DEATH NOTE, GUNGRAVE) is helming the project with screenplays written by Kenta Fukasaku (BATTLE ROYALE II) so be on the lookout for some badass vampire slaying.

Other notable characters in the series include Deacon Frost voiced by Tsutomu Isobe, and Noah Van Helsing voiced by Osamu Saka. The anime will premiere on July 1st, 2011 in Japan and will have a 12 episode run. In sadder news, Wesley Snipes is still currently incarcerated for misdemeanor failure to file U.S. federal income tax returns.

  1. i recently found on this site the animated series, Blade. I was surprise its from Japan since the movies were made in America. It has some different storyline in the 3 episodes I have seen so far and I do like the series. I read online that was made about this like 5 or 6 years ago. And now its online. I do not know what channel its really on since no one has posted much info about this show. I did see something on g4 web site but when I went there, no info of any kind. If some one wants to watch it I did post the website. I did hear also on one website said something about 12 episodes. Hope they do show them all. Its in Japanese but there is subtitles. It started July 1, 2011 when I went to www.imdb.com web site.
