Rhyme Animal the Award Winning Hip Hop Thriller Series Returns to Los Angeles for the 2nd Annual LA Web Fest.
Already Receiving Numerous Accolades Across the Festival Circuit, the Groundbreaking Web Series Screens for Los Angeles Audiences
Critically acclaimed web series RHYME ANIMAL (rhymeanimal.tv), returns to the big screen at this year’s second annual Los Angeles Web Festival on Saturday, March 26. Created by filmmaker Jorge Rivera (co-written with Aaron F. Schnore and Billy Fox), the independent web drama tells the gripping story of an ambitious hip-hop DJ who rides the coattails of an up-and-coming rapper–a rapper who might also be a cannibalistic serial killer.
RHYME ANIMAL is beginning to capture the attention of the independent television and web series industry since its online debut on Koldcast.TV and a national festival run, including the Independent Television Festival, the New York Television Festival and the Mid-Atlantic Black Film Festival. In addition, the series continues to receive numerous accolades, including “Best of” nominations by entertainment sites Clicker.com and Indieintertube.tv and a “Best Web Series” award at the Mid-Atlantic Black Film Festival.
In addition to screening at this year’s LAWebFest, Rivera will be speaking on the festival’s 10 TIPS TO BECOMING A BETTER WEB SERIES WRITER PANEL on Saturday, March 26, 1:00-1:45PM.
Rivera has found incredible opportunity since producing RHYME ANIMAL. Its initial success has led to collaboration with ValDean Entertainment, a production company established by Al Thompson (Royal Tenenbaums, Johnny B. Homeless). At ValDean Entertainment, Rivera serves as Head Writer/Show Runner on several web series productions including:
LENOX AVENUE is a sexy dramatic web series set in Harlem’s recent renaissance, starring Jamie Hector (The Wire) and Michael K. Williams (The Wire, Boardwalk Empire).
ODESSA is a sci-fi series currently in production and stars Richard Herd (Seinfeld, V, Star Trek Voyager) and Fulvio Cecere (Battlestar Galactica, The WatchMen).
THE BABY DADDY MEMOIRS follows the exploits of “Slice” and his 28+ plus baby mommas.
Other works of note include the two-time Webby Honoree branded web series, THE UNPROTECTED (theunprotected.net), directed and produced by Rivera.
Accolades for RHYME ANIMAL include:
Best Web Series, The Mid Atlantic Black Film Festival (2010)
Best Web Drama (nominated, 2010) by clicker.com
Best Web Horror (nominated, 2010) by indieintertube.tv
