REVIEW:

It’s big fun and a drug induced sexing on the high seas! Straight from the Magnet 6-shooter series comes a British thriller with a rather unique title “Donkey Punch”. If your as curious as I was, your already asking what is a donkey punch? Donkey Punch is a punch delivered to a woman’s ass during intercourse though in the film its regarded as striking a woman at the base of her neck during orgasm. While that’s all fine and dandy, truly either way I’ve never heard the phrase…however it does make you want to ask the question.

The setting? Malloraca Spain. The location of origin? A nightclub in a Mediterranean resort. 3 girls and 4 guys meet, become quick acquaintances and quickly move the party to a yacht. There’s no mystery here. A group of guys trying to get lucky with some hot chicks with plenty of booze and drugs. They persuade to move the party out to the open waters to keep the noise from drawing attention. At this point its pretty obvious from both parties that there is an interest in having fun and perhaps exploring a few sexual needs. They swim, drink and frolic about.

Lets get the ensemble names out of the way so in case you missed them in the film. On the female side of things we got Tammi, Kim and Lisa. On the boys end we got Sean, Bluey, Josh, and Marcus. You might gain an advantage to memorize them as the British accents are as thick as they get at times, so a subtitles track would of really helped ….though none to be found.

Moving along, things escalate with 2 of the couple who move things to a large bedroom after indulging in crack pipes for some sexual exploration. It’s quick to give purpose to the unrated rating as these couples have full on sex while there 3rd buddy films it per video camera. In fact he does such a good job that he’s invited to join in. Yep its soft p*rn at its best as every male fantasy is fulfilled as the way we “think” vacationing in foreign countries should go. Now the added 3rd buddy gets his turn and is egged on by his friend to give it a full go. In the process he suggesst to “go ahead”. I guess this suggestion means to try out that Donkey punch scenario as he quickly learns it ends up breaking the girls neck.

There’s the set up. We now have the tension point to the plot that gets worst as it try’s to get better. Not the film but the situations. The occupants begin to dread the consequences and start scheming to rectify the fact that one of there passengers lies dead in the other room. Guys against girls! Or at least it moves in that direction. Several ideas and solutions are discussed to cover it up but the girls really aren’t drinking the koolaid on this one. A criminal indicting tape, a bit of violence, a bit of backstabbing, a bit of high jinx on the ocean. It’s all there and delivers pretty effectively. We wont be inventing the wheel with this one but it does the job of a bit of roller coaster suspense from moment to moment. In fact at this time into the game your saying to yourself, this can’t end good.

As folks get more nervous they make stupid choices and get hurt in theprocess. Like most films of this nature and genre, you expect a single serial killer antagonist to play out on the fears of the others. This movie uses a constant changing of hands on who is playing the part of the agressor and the victim. Not so much cat and mouse as a game of survival, truth and accountability. As one of the 6-shooter films from the Magnet team, it ranks as one of the better due to its aggressive pace. The movie was filmed in 3 weeks with a budget of £500,000. The accents can be hard to make out sometimes, so you’ll need to listen to this one at a decent volume. Though to close its a fine thriller adventure that deserves a watch.
