For decades Nick Fury was white. Changing a character’s race because of political considerations is a creatively bankrupt thing to do.

    • yep, seems to be alot of that these days
Fantastic Four and all sorts or “adjustments”

On that note, what if we came out with the Like Cage Power Man Series and presented him as a white man from the suburbs?
or Al Simmons from Spawn featuring Brad Pitt in the role? Studios aren’t fooling anyone with sudden race changes, I would think the “adjustment” would offend both races.

I’m fine if the movie makers want to have black superheroes, just don’t think its necessary to change classic lineage comic roles to support a political stance

I absolutely agree. I’d be offended if Luke Cage was transformed into a white man; same with the Falcon.

If Disney feels there aren’t enough black characters in comics they should create new, original characters. Though hopefully the motivation to do so is because the character would be interesting and not for political reasons. The latter always results in hobbling the actual story itself.

My black friends were more than a little put off by the Luke Cage Netflix series. Everyone agreed there were too many Hollywood race cliches shoe horned into that one.
